In Maple Grove, Minnesota, Church of the Open Door is answering a bold call: to open its doors and its hearts to people who have experienced chronic homelessness. Through Sacred Settlement Open Door, twelve tiny homes will be tucked into the trees, surrounded by gardens, orchards, trails, and spaces to gather—designed not just to shelter, but to nurture life, dignity, and belonging.
This project isn’t just about providing housing—it’s about creating a living community where relationships, trust, and shared life matter. Kids will grow up alongside neighbors with different stories and backgrounds; church members will share meals, work on meaningful projects, and walk alongside those finding home—maybe for the very first time. It’s a tangible way for the broader church to live out God’s call to care for the marginalized, together.
Sacred Settlement Open Door reminds us that building home is a collective act of courage, compassion, and obedience. By partnering in prayer, volunteering, and supporting this community, churches and individuals are taking part in a movement that transforms lives—both those coming off the streets and those learning what it truly means to live as neighbors, together.
